Fund Raising Ideas

Classrooms for Africa is not only an opportunity for major donors and whole schools to get involved, but also for individual classes and students to take part. Below are suggestions how this can be done.

IDEA   NEEDED

Class small change collection:
Students bring in small change (10c, quarters, loonies, toonies) once a week to place in class collection box;
School can have class competition to raise the most in a term or month

Students "purchase" bricks which they can colour in and post on a board in the classroom - build a wall!

Students can create a collection box and take home to fill. Families can be involved in this way

Classes sell baked goods once a week to raise funds

Students bring homemade baking
     
Hold a musical cake-walk, other students pay for tickets to enter the cake walk and chance to win a cake

Students bring homemade fancy large cakes from home
     
A class can provide a "hot chocolate/latte" service for staff who preorder for delivery by students in the morning. Staff pay a fee which covers costs and produces a profit

Packages of hot beverage mixes, cups
     
Pizza day - students order in and sell slices of pizza at a profit to other students

Pizzas from local pizza outlet
     
Organize a "walk" or "run" to raise funds

Students collect and organize empties for refunds
     
Hold a class popcorn day for other students to purchase. Your students make and package the popcorn at lunchtime

Classroom Activities to Get Your Students/Parents Involved

    • Show your students a PowerPoint presentation or Slide Show of the C4A project (please email c4a@dunamiseducation.org for copies)
    • Download and print copies of the C4A Brick Coin collection Box Template (download below). Have students cut them out, assemble and take home for collecting coins. For motivation your could offect incentives to those who collect the most, or a certain amount
    • Download and print copies of the brick for colouring in an mounting in your school/classroom. A student can "purchase" a brick for $1 and write their name on
    • Start a classroom collection box (can will be available at the ACSI teacher's convention for teachers).
