PROJECT NAME: Tirrim Primary School

LOCATION: Korr, Kenya

PROJECT INFORMATION: Tirrim Primary, a Christian school run by the Africa Inland Church, was started in 2004. It grew out of kindergartens located in semi-nomidic villages in the far north of Kenya. The school offers education for the lower grades. It has some classrooms but needs to build more because many classes are still without shelter in a very inhospitable environment.

BUILDING APPLIED FOR: Classroom space which will include teaching areas, a teacher's preparation room and a storage room

COST: $20,000 - the only type of building that will last in such a harsh environment is concrete and steel. All materials have to be transported in by land from Nairobi which is 1100 km away, adding to the cost.

PAYMENTS: Funds to be transferred to Nairobi through Africa Inland Mission for disbursement as needed and for monitoring.

STATUS: Project approved, awaiting donor and funds

DONOR: Pacific Academy, Surrey, BC, Canada

COMPLETION: 2009
